Upholstery & Fabrics
Masters of upholstery and reupholstering, DeCarlo Interiors uses only the best materials available, including high resilient foams, dacron, bleached cotton, goose down and feathers, and heavy gauge springs. DeCarlo Interiors specializes in restoring pieces in any known style, including contemporary, traditional, and period pieces.
Antique pieces may be restored, instead of just reupholstered, using authentic upholstery methods specific to the particular period that the piece came from. For example:
- Hammered tacks - not staples
- Natural cotton, down, and feather may be used, but not polyfoams, Dacron, or other synthetic materials
- Joints are redoweled as needed, using glue and methods identical to those which Betsy Ross and Thomas Chippendale used
- Exteriors of pieces are hand-sewn, using a pre-1960 method
DeCarlo Interiors works with all weight of fabrics for upholstery, including silks, failles, leather, Boucles, and matelasse, as well as more common fabrics. We guarantee that patterns are masterfully matched, and have thousands of samples representing mills from all over the world to choose from. We will also work with our customer's own fabric, if suitable.
